As a member of Ghostec, to be able to go aboard the Queen Mary in Long Beach, California, would be a ghost hunter's dream. So, on my vacation to Los Angeles, California to visit my friend Kathi Brinkley, that is exactly what we did. As a surprise for me, Kathi booked a first class stateroom for us to spend the night. Upon arriving with our cameras, lots of film, memory cards and my digital recorder we could not get in our room fast enough to drop our overnight bags and head out to explore the grand and haunted ship. Being there in the middle of the week, the ship was almost empty. We could go anywhere by ourselves except to the bottom where the boiler rooms are located. Those places were for guided tours only, we signed up for the tour. As we walked the musty hallways, our tour guide asked if anyone had questions. I asked if he could tell me where door 13 was. His eyes opened up very wide and asked how I knew about door 13. This area is where a young man serving on the ship had been crushed to death as the watertight door caught and closed on him. The young mans ghost is sighted there. The guide said, "You're standing in it." I couldnt turn around fast enough to begin snapping pictures. There were three ladies standing with me in that spot and they jumped out of my way. This is one of the highlights of the ship.

Kathi and I took pictures of every hallway, corner and steps on our self-guided tour. We also did EVP recordings where we could find a spot with no noise or music playing. There was one place on the ship that held our interest more than any other place. The area is where two hallways merge, with steps going to both the upper and lower decks. Both Kathi and I had a "feeling" about this area. Within five minutes of taking pictures, both our cameras died. The batteries were completely dead. When Kathi removed her batteries, she handed them to me and they were hot to touch. Kathi looked surprised (this was her first ghost hunting adventure) and I told her the spirits were sucking the energy from the batteries. We replaced batteries in both cameras and began once more. Within minutes, the batteries were dead again. Not to be undone by this, more batteries went in. When these died, we went looking for a ships store to buy more. All stores were closed and we had to wait until morning to buy batteries, to head back to what had become our favorite spot. Early the next morning, with breakfast over and new batteries in our cameras, we were once again snapping pictures. Things were going smoothly until Kathis batteries died again. Again she changed them. I smelled flowers! There are no flowers there and the fragrance was not there the night before. It was check out time and we headed to the desk to turn out keys in. As we stood in line, Kathi said she needed to go back once more before we left. I told her to go ahead and I would stay with our bags. Within minutes she returned and her batteries were dead. She took an extra set of mine and off she went, to the "hot spot." We left that grand old ship with loads of pictures between us. Some turned out well for our picture albums and others sported anomalies that still need further examination. If there were spirits among us during our stay on the Queen Mary, they got our attention. I have never been so drawn to an area before.

As we left, we thanked them for allowing us to come into their space and visit with them. My hope is to return again next year and do it all over again.

Note by Sue: Sandy and her friend Kathi stumbled upon one of the paranormal hot spots on the Queen Mary. Sandy had an olfactory experience, they had "feelings of a presence" and the total loss of 28 batteries over a short period of time... making it evident they were near a portal or in a vortex where paranormal happenings are eminent.

Sandy got the rest of her 35mm film developed and she has a very unusual picture. Though there is sunlight and a slight flare on the cabin wall of her suite on the Queen Mary, there is also a huge solid orb just above the pillow of her bed. It is so dense and round. When enlarged, it remains the same. A real anomaly. Just had to share it with you. Would you like to share this pillow with her? It seems someone did!
