Ghostec investigated a school on December 30th, 2007. What a nice way to exit 2007... with an investigation!

Members present were Peggy, Sandy, Jonathan, Gary, Nanci, Scott, Susie and Sue. Sue's Grandsons Chad and Luke were also along for their first investigation.

We could not completely investigate in the dark. Some of the hall security lights had to stay on, but the classrooms were dark. There were lots of things in the school which we have to dismiss as the normal realm... clocks, computers, vents (heat and air), kitchen equipment and a number of noises from the traffic echoing into the school. EMF meters were virtually useless with a plethora of electrical and electronic items present. We were however able to use the Infrared thermometers, cameras, recorders and still camera shots.

We got a few temperature drops that I consider radical. One reading was the high sixties dropping ten to fifteen degree with a quick recoup. All rooms were closed and no air or heat running at the time we got these drastic drops. That usually happens with spirit activity; it was as if something flew by your head or body, leaving you with those chills that so often accompany feelings from the other world.

Staff told us about the activities going on in the school. They could not justify the incidents as normal. One of the anomalies is toilets flushing without anyone near them and footsteps constantly heard in the hallways. A teacher told us about being in the classroom with a student one day; they were working quietly and seated in desks next to each other, when a voice called out the teacher’s name. Both she and the student looked up at the same time to see who called her. There was no one near them and a quick look in the hallway revealed an empty hall. They have no idea who called her name. Another time, a chair moved by itself in different classroom and was witnessed by the whole class.

The history of this long standing school is the same as one would expect throughout years of use and changing times. There have been faculty and students that have died. Some of the deaths were natural, some caused by accidents and illnesses; suicides and murder. The staff is not sure if any of those individuals would hang around the school but thought it was neat to see if Ghostec could pick up anything scientifically for validation of the things that go on.

We set up equipment throughout the single level school, including the areas in question. We teamed in couples as we always do to walk around. We did recordings and took pictures while the IR cameras, stationed in the hallways, rolled.

One of our Impressionists sat in the cafeteria and wrote down her feelings as the evening went along. She did get some distinct impressions and will share them when all the scientific evidence is put together.

We, like most paranormal investigators, also have personal events on a hunt that are just that, a human experience that cannot be validated with science. Still, if not for the human element, we would never know if someone thought a place was haunted or not. We always share what happens to us as individuals.

The school is definitely a place with feelings that project themselves into your thinking. One team had sad feelings; one team had the butterfly effect in the stomach, as if something was going to appear any minute. One team felt a bit of anger. At times, I myself felt apprehensive... of what? I have no idea.  Strange though, as we moved around, feelings were altered and a whole new set of feelings occurred throughout our team. I consider our team quiet and stable. We do not jump to immediate conclusions and we rely heavily on our scientific proof.

Update: January 11th, 2008 and conclusions of Ghostec

The following are the evidences gathered scientifically and the Impressionists feelings; the team’s individual feelings.

Sandy usually will do Impressionist work of the olfactory system. This investigation, Sandy did not get any smells, but when she first stepped into one of the bathrooms to do a recording, she got an EVP that said, “Help.” It is faint and we are not sure who the spirit is. It is whispery in sound volume.

Peggy only does Impressionist type work for the team. She immediately got the impression of an older stern man about 5’5”, slightly balding, but was not evil in any way, just annoying. He seemed to think the building was his! This was in the dining hall just outside the kitchen. Peggy felt she was watched by him the whole evening.

Jonathan works with camcorders and recordings. His efforts were fruitless with the camcorder. He recorded two 20-minute DVD recordings in a classroom where activity had been reported. He has the job of re-checking our possible EVPs. He ferreted out several EVPs and they will be credited to the person that got them.

Nanci felt hair standing up on her arms and the feeling of being watched in the kitchen and dining hall area. There is most always something around when this happens to Nanci. The EVPs were not audible from the kitchen as the noise level was too intense.

Gary set up IR cameras to cover both of the long hallways and then walked around with his Tri-field meter and recorder. He saw a shadow of a hand move in front of him in the kitchen area, (Nanci was with him and it was near this time she had her feeling of someone being present) but it was dark and lots of reflective surfaces are there. However, Gary did capture some EVPs. One says the name “Derrick.” One says, “I’m cold.” Another one says, “Get off.”

Chad and Luke, the grandsons were along for their very first investigation. They experienced the excitement of the hunt. Luke had one experience as we walked into one of the classrooms. He was not frightened but we both felt an attitude change as we entered. He made the statement that it felt very controlled in there. Chad felt as if someone was close to him, while with me in the exercise/weight room, feeling an icy breeze swoop over his head. I will add that the fans and heat/AC were off and the room was closed. We had a temperature drop from the normal sixty-nine degrees we had already gotten, down to fifty-four.

Susie did recordings with Sandy and is also sensitive to paranormal events. She did not have a lot of feelings or scientific evidence to add. She said the feelings were not evil but rather vacillated between irritating and sad.

Sue had one EVP that said, “Play Hard” recorded in the exercise/weight room. This was the room where Chad had felt the cool breeze. Sue also took lots of still pictures, but there was nothing paranormal in them.

Scott is a photo person and took over one-hundred pictures with his digital camera. He had his camera set for nighttime and of course that means a slower shutter speed and he got some interesting blurred shots, but those aren't paranormal.

Many thanks to the staff members who allowed us to do this investigation. No other info will be released concerning this investigation.

Our conclusion is: The school is active.

We are not dismissing the possibility that some of the things moving are poltergeist activity. The age range of the students is such that it could be a causative factor for that kind of activity.

We are hoping for a second visit to further investigate.

Sue
