Location: Doctor Samuel Mudd House

Date: August 6th, 2009

City: Waldorf

State: Maryland

When President Lincoln was shot, April 14th, 1865, the assassin then jumped from the Presidential box, breaking his leg. He was able to flee and turned up at Dr. Samuel Mudd’s house to be treated. Dr. Mudd did in fact assist the man as his Hippocratic Oath compelled him to do. A lot of people thought he was a co-conspirator in the assassination. He was tried, sent to prison and later pardoned.

Dr. Mudd’s house stands today at 3725 Dr. Samuel Mudd Road, Waldorf, Maryland 20601,

and the director is Danny Fluhart. It is furnished and appointed with beautiful antiques and is a museum that can be toured. For museum hours you can call 301-274-9358

Mr. Fluhart welcomes guests, but does not entertain further ghost investigations.

Ghostec member Gary Hall and his wife Nanci met with Mr. Fluhart, had dinner and then were most honored to have a few hours of investigation in the Mudd House. Here in Gary’s own words is what he and Nanci experienced that night.

“Nanci and Gary met Danny Fluhart at a restaurant at 6PM, ate and then followed Danny to the Mudd House at 7:15PM.  We arrived at Mudd House at 7:30PM. I set up an I.R. camera and VCR in the attic and recorded facing a clothes rack (said to have turned itself over) and stairs. The camera seemed to move after I left, about 5 minutes into the tape. I might add here that the house and floors are very solid and it is not a shaky place. When reviewing the tape, the camera looks as if it is being moved (vertically) up and down. Also, as I passed through with another camcorder, I found all the cords on the stationary camcorder had been unwound and were falling to the floor.

Nanci and I worked in various rooms while Dan waited on the back porch. Early on, first Nancis’, then my Sony IR Illuminator batteries went dead! (Completely drained…although both were fully charged! One battery, (Nancis’) had to be replaced… however, mine, the next day was perfect!)

We did get some strange EVPs in different rooms. We left about 10:30PM as it started to rain.”
